| The Modesto Lions Club is proud to be the
oldest Lions Club in Modesto, having been chartered on March 29, 1922. Our
charter carries the signature of Melvin Jones, the founder of Lionism
worldwide. When Melvin Jones made his visit to California in 1922, he travelled by train and automobile, used a pen or typewriter and carbon paper for his paperwork, and depended on the phone system and the mail for commuications, often taking days to make arrangements or solve problems. The Modesto Lions Club is proud to be part of the Vanguard leading Lionism into the 21st century through the use of modern communications, including this very website. We plan to use this site as one more way to interact with our community in the various projects and activities of which we are proud, and to inform the public of various aspects of the Club and Lionism. We celebrate our 90th Anniversary on March 29th, 2012!!! |
